Those Little Con-artists

As I was on the bus yesterday going to work, right across from CJS two teen-age boys get on the bus, okay, nothing unusual. The first one comes on, carrying a skate board, and gives his transfer to the bus driver, and sometime during the pass (whether intentionally or unintentionally) the transfer was dropped. No big deal, the bus driver picks it up and reads it, a second later he calls back to the first boy and says this transfer is three days old, do you have another one? By this time the second boy has showed his transfer and has started to walk to the back of the bus, and as the first boy passes the second a swift hand movement was made behind the skateboard and the first boy had a valid transfer. As he walked to the front of the bus he pretended to rummage around in his pocket looking for the proper transfer. When he "finds it" he hands it to the bus driver and all it well.

Okay so I think, a bus transfer, not that big a deal, he just didn't have the money on him. But what will happen to these boys next? Where will they be in 5 or 10 years?

Fall...

Today I wore sweats, a long sleeve shirt, a big hoodie, and my winter boots. I was a little too cold yesterday, and I was fed up! As I walked to the bus stop at quarter after eight this morning I could feel the arms of my glasses pressed against my face, and getting increasingly colder as I walked. And sure enough when I stepped into the warmth of the bus they fogged, only a little, but they still fogged. This to me is the sigh of fall finally and absolutely being here. No going back now. Even though we had a good summer this year, I am still not ready for winter. Maybe it won't be so bad once my friend gets her license and can pick me up instead of walking to the bus and waiting forever outside...

My bizarre Friday

On my spare I met a new girl, she has been hanging out with our group for a while now but I had never officially met her, so she hung out with me and a few other people on my spare. Her name is Chelsea, and she is very nice. I like her. So after spare I went to math (nothing special about math!) and then after math I was talking to everyone in the hall and found out that Chelsea was going out for supper that evening, and then she invited me. So I caught the bus with a few of my friends, and we were sitting right at the front and were just talking about what was happening that night, and what everyone was doing, and all of a sudden we hear the bus driver talking and at first we thought he was on a cell phone or something and then we realized he was making fun of home many times we said "like" in a sentence. Then he just started talking with us and joking around! At one point he was turning a corner and it was just difficult because it was a bus! And one of my friends remarked "I could never drive a bus, I would end up hitting people!" At this point there was another car coming around the corner and the bus driver was like, "here let’s freak this guy out!" and he started driving like straight at him! Then he said "well no ones going to take on a bus, it's like 10 feet high and 18 feet long, coming straight at you!" it was really funny, so for the rest of the ride he was just telling us story's about being a bus driver. When I got home I got ready to go out for supper and then went over to my friend Alie's house, whose parents were going to drive us to Chelsea's house where, apparently, a limo was picking up and taking up to pasta la vista. So as her parents were driving us to Chelsea's house, Chelsea called and said that she was in the hospital with her grandma and she didn't know what was happening, so at that point we were already by Glenlawn, so we told her we would go over to Reilly’s house (my other friend who was coming with us) and wait there until she knew what was happening. After about half an hour we went to Chelsea’s house, where a limo was waiting outside when we got dropped off. While everyone was frantically running around, changing putting on make up and getting ready, two guys came in, and I was like who are these guys? Later I found out that one guy was her brother and the other was his friend (Pat and Taylor). So once everyone was ready we all got into the limo, where Taylor popped the cork from a champagne bottle out the sunroof, and preceded to pass this bottle of champagne around the car too all of us. The restaurant part of the night was relatively normal, other than I found out that these guys knew Kim (my sister) from Glenlawn. After supper we got picked up by the limo and went to a friend’s house, where there were a bunch of people. It was really great there; everyone was drinking and smoking except for me and Alie. It was weird to see all my friends high and drunk. It was sad, I felt like I was in a movie as they passed the bong around the table, all taking a turn on it. Alie decided just to sleep over at my house, the only problem was getting a ride home, no one had a car, or could legally drive. The night continued until about 1:00 when we finally got a ride home with a guy, who was not drunk, not high, had his official license, and a car. I was tired. So we came to my house and just went to bed. It was a pretty bizarre day.

Really?

Grade Eleven Pre-Calculus Mathematics Cumulative Exercises
Exercise 2: Graphs of Quadratic Functions 1
Question #10:
If one man can jump a stream that is 3 meters wide, how wide a stream can 5 men jump?

When I saw this question I was stunned and speechless. I didn't know how to react or how to answer such a stupid question. My response was ummmm..... So after I got over my shock I looked in the answer book. Do you want to know what the answer was?!? It depends on how far each man can jump. That was it. Now really, who made this book? #1 Is that question really worthy of being in a Grade Eleven Pre-Calculus book? #2 Is that really a worthy answer to a question in a Grade Eleven Pre-Calculus Book? #3 Are you serious?!?

Make me smile

-As I rode the bus home from work I saw a man standing on his driveway eating an apple, as he proudly watched his new sprinkler water his lawn.
-Chole was at our house today. I was lying on the fouton on our deck when she came and jumped up on it and fell asleep with me, her breath smelt but she was pleasantly warm, and her gestures comforted me.
-My dad left on a bike trip this morning while I was sleeping on the fathom, even though I had said goodbye to him twice already he took the time to say it to me once more before he left.
-Children get so excited about everything, even making a PITA.
-I have reached my summer goal, to raise one thousand dollars towards our Europe trip. I currently have $1 , a number I am greatly proud of.

Last Day

Today was my last day of work at Mirlycourtois. It was good. A fairly busy lunch, but not stupid running around like crazy monkeys busy; just good. Then in the evening there was a wedding that I worked at. The weddings there are weird. There have been two in the time that I have worked there. It's weird. I don't know why anyone would want to get married there. The reception fine, that makes sense to me, but the actual ceremony, with everyone just standing there. I dunno about that. Anyways, it went really well. I got off from lunch at three and went back at six, a much-appreciated break. It was an open bar, so lots of drinks, lots of stupid people, and lots of glasses to be dried. Mostly by me, though I did actually get to serve some hors d'oeuvres this time, and clear some dirty dishes from the guests. It was great! Well it's late, and Cor and I are going to the cottage tomorrow, as early as possible, which probably won’t be that early. But I better go anyways.
