Story time

We've been trying all sorts to get our babe to sleep better. Including trying nothing at all, we tend to stick to laid back approaches. Some nights she sleeps 7 hours, some nights increments of 2. It's amazing how much your life begins to revolve around sleep war stories and techniques with other parents. Long and short is nothing works! Hahaha...But we try to enjoy the little moments. 

Butterfly smiles

My day is filled with rushing, doing this and doing that. If I can just get this done while Maggie's sleeping, I can do that while she's in the jolly jumper. While she's still happy, I'll just sneak in a couple dishes here. Just wipe the counter here. Just grab a quick bite before I have to change a dirty diaper, entertain her, get her to sleep, feed her. Then I sit down. I relax. I rest. I grab my water bottle and nurse. One of my new favourite pastimes, though she is getting quite bossy and distracted with it lately. 

That smile, that fleeting time when it's just us. Me and my babe, my daughter. And those eyes. She has eyes just for me, and I for her. I watch amazed as her tongue expertly manoeuvres to get what she needs and I stare into those beautiful blues. And I soak it all in. 

Ps. I'm not even sorry about the boob. It is what it is. And doing what it's supposed to do. And my favourite picture and my favourite girl.

I guess this is really happening. Not much chance of turning back, eh?
