Thursday Thirteen

Yes, I know its not Thursday anymore, but your actually getting a post, so be quiet!
Oh yeah, this is a completely random list, though I'm sure you would have figured that our on your own pretty quickly.

1. I am starting to think walking pedestrians take less notice of bikers than cars do.

2. I won a water bottle for making a contraption out of a few random items (styrofoam plates, newspaper, string, tape and straws) with an egg in it was able to drop from 60 feet and keep the egg safe. At first I was a little disappointed with my prize, I've tried a few water bottles and there's always flaws. This is hands down the best, leak free, perfect sized water bottle I've ever had. I love it. And, bonus, its stainless steel, so I won't get poisoned!

3. I started riding my bike to work most days, sometimes I get a ride with someone who I work with and lives close by. But other than the constant fear of getting poured on this year, I've really been enjoying it. As much as it sucks getting up at 5:30 and being a little hot when I get to work, but, I really do feel better on the days I ride my bike compared to the days I get a ride.

4. Speaking of all this bike riding, I bought my first car!! Ha-ha, a little ironic I know, but in all fairness my boyfriend does live a 2 1/2 hour bike ride away, and I've dealt with it pretty well for the last 3 years, but I think its time to make some adjustments.

5. I've been working "next door" to this guy for close to two months now, and have scarcely said 3 words to him. I have recently discovered that the heavy breathing every once in a while is him out cold having a nap at his desk. Since this discovery I now hear him doing this 2-3 times a day. On second thought, maybe I shouldn't be telling you this…

6. I had a plan to paint and read lots this summer. So far I have started 3 books not finishing any of them, and I have 2 good painting ideas, but for some reason I don't seem to be able to get anything done that I want to lately.

7. I've recently become re-addicted to weeds with Tom. No not the drug, the TV show. If you're ever looking for some awkward moments with some laughs, and time with NO CHILDREN around, this is the show for you! But really, Don't let any children watch it. And if you do watch an episode please don't judge me! It contains crude content. Just making sure that is in your head if you decide to check it out.

8. What did I do at work on Wednesday? I spent the majority of my day flipping a drawing sideways and everything that went along with it. Very tedious and not all that enjoyable work.

9. What did I do Thursday? I spent half my day flipping the drawing back right side up.

10. I know it was kinda yucky out today, not like the rest of the week, so why on earth didn't they turn the air conditioning down? I spent most of my day wrapped up in my skirt like a blanket with a cup of hot chocolate in my hands. That’s not right.

11. Twelve days until Folk Fest! Woo-hoo! And they put the day time schedule on-line this year. Over all a very exciting day for me.

12. I got my hair cut on Tuesday. I haven't had it cut since the "big cut". Give or take 9 months. Before the cut, my hair behaved normally, after the cut it seems to be doing the swoop, where both sides flip the same way like Cameron Diaz's hair in the holiday. I hope it will cut that out soon as I'm not really one to "style" my hair.

13. I just vacuumed my car out, and as I was dragging the vacuum back into the garage I saw my bike already shoved into the corner (though I had gotten off of it not 2 hours ago from biking home in the rain). I saw it all sitting there lonely hating my new toy, it was woody and the car was Buz. Bike, Garry Fisher, I love you. I love you more than I will ever love a car! And I want you to know that!

Gang up

Attack 1: I was standing on two crates. Probably not the smartest idea I realize, but I was facing at the store and wanted to reach the cereal at the back on the top shelf. Needless to say, I leaned too far. The crates buckled. I yelped. The whole store heard. I fell on top of the fallen crates, landing on my left leg, bringing with me a bunch of cereal boxes and sale signs. I managed not to break any skin, but had one of the biggest bruises I have ever had (a little bigger than my hand). This was "attack of the left leg" number one, this winter.

Attack 2: Remember that really icy day, when it rained and then froze so the whole city was a skating rink? I wish I had my boots with screws my dad made for me when I was seven that day. I also posted a blog about it that day (when I poured juice in my cereal. Not such a good day!). Well, I fell that day. On my left leg. It hurt, and I had to get up right away because someone was walking about ten feet behind me and it was awkward. When I got to school I realized, though my jeans were fine, my skin was not. Hence the pain. This was "attack of the left leg" number two, this winter.

Attack 3: I was in the shower, shaving my armpits. A fairly regular thing for me these days... So just finished, rinsed the razor off in the water turned around to give it a good shake off, and shook it right into myself. What would you know, it was my left leg. It bled. Surprisingly a lot. And, cuts burn in the shower! Ouch. This was "attack of the left leg" number three, of the winter.

Attack 4: Walking to school again, it wasn't a complete sheet of ice this time. But after the snow melts during the day, it freezes at night, and it’s still frozen at 7:00 in the morning. So I wiped out. Again. Except it wasn't like a normal, fwa-boom, your-down-on-the-ground-and-don't-even-know-what-happened-to-you type of fall! It was more in slow motion. I fell onto my left knee, but then the momentum of my huge backpack just kind of kept me going until I was basically lying on the ground! My face was seriously about an inch from the ground! My knee hurt, skin was broken. Oh well. This was "attack of the left leg" number four, of the winter.

Attack 5: This just so happened to occur on the same day as attack four. Though it was about 17 hours later. Again, the ice had melted and frozen, just in time for Becky to be outside and walking again. So what ever, I wiped out again, on the same knee as the morning. It kind of re-opened my previous scab and also made a new one. So therefore we have "attack of the left leg" number five.

I am ready for this icy, watery, mucky mess to be gone.

Dead Still

I get to school early on Mondays. Class starts at eight every day except Monday it starts at nine. Usually I do something useful; go over notes, finish homework, prepare for labs. But today I was just too lazy. I went in a computer lab and aimlessly sat on a computer. There are two other people in the computer lab. Red River, being the environmentally friendly building it is has motion detecting lights. For the past 20 minutes or so, all three of us were so still the lights just clicked off. Its been a couple of minutes now and none of us have moved enough to make them come back on... and so goes my day.

One Day Late

Thirteen things on my mind...

1. I made some apple crisp for our night of friends and TV last night. The recipe was really weird and while I was making it I got so mad I almost just threw it all out. I am pleased to say, with a little encouragement from Kim I didn't and I thought it was pretty good!

2. I am excited about a few things for the summer! And just for summer in general.

3. I'm not doing very well in some of my courses, and I just can't bring myself to care enough to study every night and catch up. It’s very frustrating, I just want to be smart without doing any work.

4. I got a job with Manitoba hydro for the summer, I will be getting paid almost twice what I am now, and I get to work with people I already know! I'm looking forward to it.

5. There is snow again and lots of it, why oh WHY couldn't we have got this 2 months ago when I was excited about snow, and wanted to go sledding with Tom, and snowboarding with my friends? And now my Back hurts from shoveling the driveway three times.

6. My tattoo is lovely, I can't wait to show it off at folk fest! If only I could get rid of those love handles...

7. I have a quiz next class and I don't even know what it’s on...at least I get a formula sheet!

8. My favourite jeans that I bought in grade ten have finally started disintegrating on me. First on Christmas eve I bent down and they ripped on my front upper thy. I stopped wearing them for a while, scared I was going to lose them completely. I started wearing them again, and on Tuesday I was crawling in P & D's car trying to get something in the back seat and some weird kneeling position caused the knee to rip. I'm wearing them again today. I love them, and am just going to enjoy them while they last!

9. It is candy Friday, I probably will pretend I'm not going to eat candy all day, and then cave at the end of the day in math class. This is why I have love handles...

10. I wish I didn't cut my hair. I enjoyed it for a while, but I really wish it was long right now. It’s in an awkward stage where my bangs are almost too long to be bangs, but too short to be normal hair, and the rest of my hair doesn't fin in a ponytail, and I just want it to. Hopefully by summer it will be a little better.

11. K & N are living with me while my parents are gone, while it is fun most of the time, you'd be surprised at how frustrating it is having your sister live with you again after both our lives have gone through so many changes.

12. My grandma comes home on April third and my parents on the eighth. While it was nice to have a break from all the old people in my house, I must say, I'm starting to miss them!

13. It is my sister-in-laws birthday on April 7th, and this is the beginning of the birthdays again! I guess they never really stopped, Chelsea just had one yester day as a matter of fact, and Yvonne’s was last week, so they didn't stop at all. But I feel like we haven't had one in a while and I’m looking forward to it. (And her wicked, sweet, awesome present we got her!)

Catch-up week

The rest of my school did not get a spring break. Instead they got a mini-break; Thursday and Friday of last week off, and the following Monday (which was already a holiday). I was pretty ripped off when I found out this is the break I would be getting. I needed a break, and that was not long enough. About a week before "mini-break" our department head came in and explained that we would continue school for the rest of the week, coming in Thursday and Friday when the rest of the school was not there and we would get the whole next week off. On one condition: We were not allowed to brag or boast about it to the other departments. So here I am, mostly enjoying my break, though I do need to do some work, so I better get to it. School awaits in just 4 short days.

Worse Yet

My day only got worse...I got to the bus stop and my bus was almost 15 minutes late, thank the heavens it was not -50 degrees out today. Then when I was walking to school I wiped out hard-core. And now my left upper side thigh is all scratched and bruised, and my jeans are all bloody on the inside. Then We had two labs today and my lab partner left for an early holiday, so I had to do them by myself. It is, however, picking up now. I got off early and made it home safe, had a lovely corn wrap for lunch (corn always makes me feel better) and now I get to work on a resume and cover letter...Woo! Sigh, I guess I should be more thankful and less of a complainer. Maybe tomorrow.

Bad Start

I just poured juice on my cereal. I don't think this is going to be that fantastic of a day...
